Blog #1: Where You Come From and Where Are You Going?
My Life I was born in Shanghai, China, and spent my formative years navigating between worlds—from a boarding school in Pennsylvania to life in New York City, before finally landing in Los Angeles for college. Growing up in this elite environment meant being surrounded by predetermined paths: finance, consulting, law school, medical school. The copy-and-paste East Coast elite trajectory felt suffocating, so I made a conscious choice to run from it by pursuing film and embracing the solitary life of a creator in LA. It might seem ironic to seek inner peace in chaotic Los Angeles, but that’s exactly what I’m doing. My plan is simple yet challenging: keep creating, stay authentic to my work, and let that authenticity guide me toward the peace I’m searching for. Currently, I’m writing and directing short films while seeking funding opportunities. Having been selected by major film festivals gives me hope that I’m on the right path.
